CDD enseignant en études islamiques, Dublin

Un poste d’enseignant en études islamiques (6-9 mois) est proposé au Mater Dei Institute of Education, College de Dublin City University. Date limite de candidature 31 août 2012.

Mater Dei Institute, A College of Education, a foundation of the Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin and a College of Dublin City University, is seeking to recruit a visiting Lecturer in Islamic Studies located within the School of Theology. The School of Theology is one of the Institute’s three Schools and contributes to programmes and modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This post is funded by the Mater Dei Educational and Research Trust.

The School of Theology provides teaching and is engaged in research in the areas of Theology, Religious Studies and Ethics. Theology in MDI is rooted in the Catholic Christian tradition, is engaged in ecumenical and interreligious dialogue, and has a strong commitment to the promotion of global and social justice. Teaching and research at the intersection of the disciplines of theology, religious studies and ethics is what is distinctive about the work of the school. We welcome students who come from the Christian tradition, other faith communities and those ofsecular conviction.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST

The successful applicant will provide occasional lectures on Islam in undergraduate modules in Theology and Religious Studies, e.g., Theological Anthropology, The God Question, Justice and Peace Studies, Global Ethics, World Religions / Occasional lectures on Islam in postgraduate modules in Ethics and Theology, particularly in the areas of interreligious dialogue and comparative religious ethics / A public lecture on ‘A Common Word between Us and You’ and Christian-Muslim Dialogue / Participation in the research community at MDI, particularly to research in the area of interreligious dialogue between Jews, Christians and Muslims /Some research on teaching about Islam within second level Religious Education programmes and a Continuing Professional Development seminar for teachers of Religious Education based upon this research

In addition, the successful applicant will develop the profile of Islamic Studies within the Institute, Dublin City University and the wider community, with a view to promoting long-term cooperation between MDI / DCU / community partners and relevant Islamic Higher Education Institutions globally.

APPLICANT PROFILE (Details of the following must be clearly included in your application)

Applications are invited from candidates who meet the following minimum criteria:

1. Hold an honours primary degree or Masters degree in Theology, Religious Studies or Ethics   

2. Hold a PhD in Islamic Studies or Islamic Theology

3. Have an excellent command of the English language

4. Have teaching experience

5. Exhibit a  strong publication record

6. Exhibit competency in ICT and web-based skills of relevance to teaching, learning, research and related administration at third level.

The Start date is negotiable during 2012 / 2013. This is an academic post.  The post is offered on the basis of a six to nine month fixed term contract with a pro-rata salary based upon an appropriate point on the Institute’s College Lecturer scale (€48k – €77k) or Assistant Lecturer scale (€33k – €53k).

Short-listing: Applicants will be short listed for interview on the basis of the information that they have provided in their application and its relevance to the minimum post requirements as set out above.

Interview: Short-listed applicants will be called for interview. These are expected to take place during the week of September 17th, 2012 and will be held in the Institute. The interview process includes an invitation to make a short (7 minute) verbal presentation to the Interview Board on the topic of Inter-faith dialogue, with specific reference to Christian-Muslim dialogue.

Poste d’islamologie et de droit musulman, Strasbourg

L’Université de Strasbourg recrute un professeur contractuel d’islamologie et de droit musulman. Le candidat sera appelé à donner des cours de droit musulman ainsi que des enseignements sur l’islam et les courants de pensée et mouvements musulmans contemporains dans le cadre du master d’islamologie. L’enseignement sera donné en français.

Le candidat mènera ses recherches sur les évolutions contemporaines de l’islam et du droit musulman ainsi que de ses usages dans des contextes majoritaires et minoritaires. Il prendra part aux recherches menées au sein de l’UMR 7012 PRISME/SDRE du CNRS et de l’Université de Strasbourg (www.sdre.eu) sur l’islam et les musulmans en France et en Europe.

Arabe parlé et écrit souhaité.

Contrat post-doctoral: réception chrétienne de l’islam au Moyen-Age

Le consortium international de recherche Dynamics in the History of
Religions between Asia and Europe, Université de Ruhr, Bochum (Allemagne) ouvre un appel à candidature pour un contrat de recherche post-doctoral sur la réception chrétienne de l’islam au Moyen-Age. La connaissance de l’arabe classique et du latin sont nécessaires. Les candidatures doivent être déposées avant le 15 janvier 2011. Bourses pour arabisants et études arabes et islamiques

Le ministère de l’enseignement supérieur et de la recherche propose une trentaine de bourses en faveur des études d’arabe et de la recherche sur le monde arabe.

Pour bénéficier de ce programme de bourses de mobilité internationale du gouvernement français, les candidats doivent  être de nationalité française, avoir le niveau linguistique et de formation requis par chacun des centres où les stages sont mis en place, être inscrit dans un établissement d’enseignement supérieur au titre de l’année de la bourse. Le programme est proposé à des étudiants arabisants se destinant à l’enseignement de l’arabe et souhaitant présenter les concours du CAPES ou de l’agrégation ; se préparant au “concours d’Orient” du ministère des affaires étrangères; projetant de poursuivre des recherches dans le domaine arabe et islamique (Moyen-Orient en particulier : lettres, sciences humaines ou sociales) ; se préparant aux métiers du journalisme, à un travail dans les ONG, à l’expertise internationale, la création d’entreprise, les relations commerciales, etc.
